Plaka, Attica, Greece
Drove around the rest of the peninsula, beautiful scenery and still deserted, even with Easter weekend. Then went to Dion. Dion is a small village with Greek ruins, that was a sanctuary to Zeus and Isis, exotic Egyptian goddess. Really good museum of amazing statues recovered from the ruins. At the site, same are replaced by plaster models. Gazed at Mt. Olympus, home of the Greek gods, with tops of peaks covered with snow. Drove to the beach near Litohoro to camp. First camp that looked open for business, several other travellers in motor homes already there, maintenance done, although John got a cool shower! "Beach" in glossy handout, however, was a pebbly strip 3 feet wide!

I had listed things that wake me in the night- dogs barking, cats fighting, pop music, trains and other traffic, bird song, roosters crowing, thunder and rain, and, of course, the inevitable "call to prayer" in Turkey . Plaka Olympus beats them all. We were awoken in the dark by a thundering noise that sounded as if a semi was going to drive through our camp. Explanation? The garbos were dragging an industrial waste bin across the road to the truck, emptying it, then dragging it back, just outside the fence.

Made some new friends - 2 Austrians who have invited us to visit them on our way through to Raab to meet Rob and Rob.
