Athens, Attica, Greece
Set the clock so we could have a hot dip in the spring. Beautiful and relaxing at 7 a.m. THEN the new camera went for a dip too. THEN my glasses almost, but not quite, went to join the camera. THEN one of the other campers' dogs stole one of John's reef shoes. NOT a good start to the day after all. Camera dead and shoe lost, we set off for Delphi.

Amazing scenery , including a large bauxite mine site, as we climbed to above 1000 metres, as Ancient Delphi is perched on a cliff on the slopes of Mt Parnassos . Ancient Greek city, site of the Sanctuary to Apollo where the Oracle (of Delphi) resided. Would have been just another "ruin", albeit an impressive one, except for its setting on the cliffs overlooking the distant Gulf of Corinth, that made it extra special. Location, location, location. Toured the site and the museum, then set off to Athens. Still find to hard to believe that we drove beneath snow capped peaks, and even a ski resort, less than 200km from Athens.

Motorway driving at the end of a long w/e , as everyone headed back to Athens was a challenge. If the 3 lanes are chockablock, just overtake using the hard shoulder!!!

Camp site is 4 km out, easy by bus and metro, so city tomorrow and a new camera, I hope.
