Athens day 2 - slow start but successful.

Athens, Attica, Greece
Arrived at garage WITH Boomer and the mechanic said he could not do service of a TRUCK after all. Directed us to Mitsubishi dealer that we eventually found en route to the city. Even though we had no booking, they said they could do the service , provided that we could collect by 4pm, so our day got shortened somewhat.

Bus and train to town again . Took the Tourist train, as little electric train they have in many cities that does the circuit of the sites in an hour, including brief stops at the Acropolis and at the Flea Market. Then walked to the New Acropolis Museum. Amazing building, opened 2009, in that they had to build it incorporating the ancient Athens buildings they discovered underneath it as they dug out the foundations. Same are now displayed. Using glass covered forecourt and glass panels in the inside floors. Upper Parthenon gallery looks over to the Parthenon, while showing finds from the Parthenon itself inside. An amazing building.

Out of time, had to leave to collect the Boomer. Arrived to find the mechanics puzzled over the Franz Filter inserts, that look just like loo rolls! John had to reassure them and then the guys brought us coffee and cold water while we waited for them to finish. Such service and cost significantly less than in Aus!

We know we should have allowed at least 2 more days to see more of the "ruins" but have to move on tomorrow.
