Keswick, England, United Kingdom
David wanted to do a "proper walk" today so he set off early and on return, announced he had scaled several peaks, including Catbells and Causey Pike, and walked a total of 20-25 km.

Theresa and I drove to Grasmere, driving along the shore of Thirlemere to get there . Noted Hellvelyn peak as we passed, another of the "high" peaks in the Lakes. Grasmere is smaller than Keswick or Ambleside, and more gentle although still plenty of tour buses. We looked at the 12th Century church of St Oswald (Oswald being a peer of St Cuthbert and St Aidan in 600s AD.) Checked out the shops, tea rooms and cafés, and bought gingerbread at the tiniest shop in the world (seemed about 6 feet square), Sarah Nelson's Gingerbread Shop.

John had stayed home to do some computer stuff so when we got back, we 3 went for a 5km hike near to the cottage. Cottage very comfortable, plenty of room, and we heated it when we needed to. Flat coated retrievers Hannah and Henry very comfortable too, thank you.

Dinner at the local pub, the Swinside Inn, where we are able to sit outside on lovely sunny evening.
