Tromso, North Norway, Norway
Woke after an appalling night's sleep from noisy traffic all night. Pouring rain and cold- maybe the end of our sunshine!

Drove along several fjords - scenery looks quite different in the mist and the rain . Stopped at "fake" authentic Sami tent for morning tea - coffee or reindeer soup. Chose the coffee, and looked at not very genuine Sami handicrafts. Sami are the original indigenous people of north Scandinavia - Norway, Finland and Sweden.

Arrived at Tromso - most northerly city in Norway, on the island of Tromsoya. Booked into crummy campsite, effectively a football field, very muddy, but easily accessible to city. Still rainy so we had a sleep! Then went into town and looked at Polaria museum - great videos on Northern Lights and Svalbard; seal feeding, marine inhabitants, research onto receding ice fields.

We left to have great fish soup at Skaven restaurant, then walked the harbour, Mack brewery (most northerly again) the old wooden Domkirche, one of Norway's largest wooden churches but closed for us! Back to camp and still raining so decided not to go to the midnight concert at the Arctic Cathedral (no sun streaming in the stained glass windows tonight!)
