Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
Lovely slow gossipy start to the day, and beautiful sunshine again. So nice to have space to spread out in.

Took train into town, then coffee and pulla, (typical cardamom flavoured pastry, and went shopping but also churches again . The Rock Church (Temppeliauko) is incredible, built in 1965, hewn out of sold rock, almost unnoticeable from outside, with huge copper domed ceiling . By chance a pianist was playing Mozart and Strauss while we looked, all the more special.

Then the complete contrast of the red brick Uspenski Russian Orthodox Cathedral on nearby island. Typical decor of this churches, very ornate but very impressive. Then we took a tram and then a small ferry to an island for lunch, overlooking a boat harbour before ferry and walking back through the city gardens.

The highlight of the day was a dinner cruise with Johanna and her parents Lena and Jarmo, who we had met before in 2006. Three hours of glorious scenery, food, drink and sunshine as we travelled around the Helsinki Archipelago. Definitely one of "the bests" of the trip.
Finished with cocktails in a city hotel before taking train home to Johanna's flat.
