3 countries today! Zeppelins. Mountains again!

Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland
Drove into Ulm, a lovely "small" city. Walked around the Ulm Munster - amazing Gothic cathedral with the tallest spire in the world (161 metres) and then had a look inside. Plain and poorly lit but still impressive, with lots of "crests" on the walls.

Sat in the square after admiring the beautifully decorated Rathaus, built 1377-1877 . This was also the birthplace of Albert Einstein, although he left as an infant. Missed seeing "his" fountain.

Drove to Friedrichshaven, on Bodensee (Lake Constance), so John could chase Zeppelins.
Went initially to the site where Zeppilns take off from. Tours only Tuesday and Friday (today Thursday) and they only had one ticket left for a flIght, at $395 Euros ($600) so that will be next time too.

Then went to the Zeppelin Museum, on the harbour. Magnificent museum of airship flight, especially about the Hindenberg, that exploded at the airport at New Jersey in 1937. Reconstruction of the cabins and communal rooms of the airship is really good.

Set off for Switzerland. Went into a tunnel in Germany and came out in Austria. There long enough to find our GoBox was malfunctioning. Told to go "7 km down the road on the left" to get it sorted , but after 7 km, we were in Switzerland!

Then had to go into Customs Post to buy Road Tax permit for Switzerland. 10 days for $39 - not bad.

Joined the motorway, and instantly, mountains! Back in VERTICAL country again! Could almost have been 4 countries as we drove parallel to Lichtenstein for about 30 km. Drove to Chur, our first "Night Halt" campsite. You camp outside a campsite, can use their water, electricity, etc, and costs about half the full camping fee. OK for us. Walked down to look at the roaring river next to the camp. Heard what we thought were gunshots, but discovered they were blasting in a nearby quarry. Only once in the night!

Great night's sleep with the roar of the Au river to lull us to sleep.
