Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne, France
First we had to negotiate ourselves out of the car park and into the Aires car park, which we did with much miming and sign language, our French not being as good as our poor German.
Clermont-Ferrand, we discovered, is Michelin tyre city . The head office and an enormous factory were situated just next to our camp spot.

Set off by tram into Clemont-Ferrand town to find a dentist to mend my broken tooth. After extremely helpful staff at Tourist Info made several phone calls, found a dentist and tooth duly repaired.

Then to the Post Office, supposedly to collect 2 parcels from Aus., of Boomer spares. No such luck! No parcels! Helpful staff tried lots of options, then "come back tomorrow" and "fill out a complaint form"!!!!

Lunch, then looked at the "black" Gothic cathedral of Notre Dame, made of local volcanic rock. Closed for lunch, so could not look inside. Wandered the streets of the Old Town. Statue of Veringetorix, who almost halted Caesar's success in Gaul. Fountain of Aloise. Statue to Pope Urbain the Second, who initiated the Curia in Rome and set up the first crusade. Then looked into the Unesco listed Notre Dame du Port Basilica with really impressive roof line and tiling.

Back to camp to meet up with Rob and Rob again, who had driven in from Lyon. They had also scored a tour of the Michelin factory before retiring to Maccas to collect emails.
