Sierra Nevada and we met an old friend.

Órgiva, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
We left the camp and set off up the motorway, so hot and dry, the county almost like a desert. So much so, in fact, we came to Mini Hollywood, Texas Hollywood and Western Leone, all theme parks in the desert that have been used for Clint Eastwood Wild West movies, among others.

After lunch, we drove over the Sierra Nevada range of mountains . Quite spectacular scenery, desert peaks, hair pin bends, narrow roads and pretty small villages. These looked so much more prosperous than the ones seen previously, such a change over a short distance. Drove up to about 2000 metres. Even spotted a couple of patches of last year's snow. Admired the handsome Italian Renaissance castle, Castilo de la Calahorra, from a distance.

Drove off road once in search of two "lakes" that turned out to be green water reservoirs!

Then arrived at our friend Frankie's house near Orgiva. Frankie had travelled across Asia from London to Kathmandu with us in 1976 and we had last seen her in 2006. Frankie and her house mate Sally, both from UK, had bought a house several years ago and spend much time there. Beautiful rambling and Spanish in style, multiple levels and a pool! Of course we had a great swim then drinks and long slow dinner with lots of reminiscing over much red wine, finally getting to bed after midnight.
