Picasso and Malaga

Tarifa, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
Bus into the city. It was early Sunday and everyone was still asleep. We could look inside the amazing cathedral - a mix of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance. A massive 40 metre dome, and beautifully lit inside to show off its treasure. Known as La Manquita (the one armed) as one tower of the two was never completed.

Then coffee at a cafe in the pedestrian area before going to the Picasso Museum . Situated in the 16th century Palaccio Buenavista, it cost 66 million Euros to set up in 2003 with gifts of Picasso's paintings, ceramics and drawings from his daughter in law and grandson. Today the art did really appeal, maybe due to the spacious building or cool of the early day. We are now all converts to Picasso.

Had lunch in a busy cafe then back to camp. Got a feel for the city, even though brief, as we saw a bit of the waterfront.

Left camp and drove through beachside Torremolinos - said to have as many people fitted into the smallest space as possible! Not pretty. Then via the motorway to Tarifa. Glimpses of Africa as we drove, and of Gibraltar. The countryside down here is green, a surprise after so much "desert". Good camp, beautiful shade under the pine trees.

Africa tomorrow!
