Seville day 1

Seville, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
Drove to Seville and found a cheap Motorhome camp spot opposite the city. Bussed into the city - very hot day for sightseeing!

Seville is lovely, and the old city is spread out/spacious, compared to many others, maybe because it is not built on a hill .

Looked at the Torre Del Oro (so called because it is supposed to have a golden roof) on the river bank, then the outside of the cathedral.

Then we went into the Real Alcazar, residence of many kings and caliphs, and the oldest Royal Palace still in use in Europe. A World Heritage Site. A beautiful complex of buildings originally built in 913 as a fort and added to by Moslems and Christians over many hundreds of years. So peaceful as we wondered through courtyards, palaces, patios and gardens. Admired carved gates and doors, tapestries, tiled masterpieces and countless fountains. Surprisingly, the outside of this vast place is very ordinary, hiding well all the architectural treasures inside. Could have stayed a lot longer than the several hours we did spend, but we had a place to be.

Robyn wanted to see flamenco dancers so we went to a dinner and dance show. (El Patio Sevillano). Situated almost next door to Seville's bullring. Flamenco dancing, of course, with beautiful guitar music, castanets, toe and heel tapping, exquisite dresses - a fantastic evening for us all. Now we had done one more of the "must do" things, but not planning to add a bull fight to the list!

We decided to come back tomorrow to see more of Seville.
