Lisbon, Estremadura, Portugal
Question: How much of Lisbon can you see from the inside of the Mitsubishi dealership?
Answer: Not much!!! We delivered the vehicles for service at 8 .30 pm. John and Ann were still there at 2.30. The boss , "John" took us to lunch in the canteen. We finally departed at about 2.30. Rob and Rob had battery problems, so were given a loan car and had to return to the depot to sleep overnight while that was sorted.

We drove to the old part of town and went to the Tile Museum (Museu Nacional Do Azujelo) set in an old convent building. The tiles were so interesting - explanations of HOW the different types were actually made - and the convent building itself really amazing, especially its "over the top" church with fantastic art works on display. Tiled panels, walls and ceilings all fantastic - a unique Portuguese form of art. Some are geometric, some flowery and some a detailed pictorial scene or even a whole wall or altar backdrop. Most dated back to the 1600s.

Drove back to the camp on the riverbank. Two young fellows came to chat - one German, one Dutch, they had met in Aus., and were now doing a year travelling together. Great chat about their time in Aus. and their ongoing plans.

Just about to go to bed. "Hallo, neighbour" and tapping at the door. A beggar with a long story of his friends abandoning him!

Finally, sleep!
