Paris day 2.

Paris, Île-de-France, France
Such a wet day, stayed inside for a few hours. Then set off when the weather settled - good decision.

Got the train and ended up walking at least 2 km to get out of the station at the end . Looked at some shopping streets then got to Notre Dame. Surprisingly, free to enter!

A lovely cathedral with great works of art and stained glass windows, but dark overall. The outside of the basilica is so impressive, with lots of folk meandering in the large square in the sunshine!

Took the bus again to the Place de la Concorde, picking up the commentary of the history of that place. Then into the Tuileries Garden. Beautifully quiet and peaceful, considering it is in the centre of Paris. Walked around, admiring flowers, fountains, ponds and tree lined avenues. Fabulous huge statues on plinths, some from hundreds of years ago, all brought to the gardens in the 1800s.

Took the bus again part way up the Champs-Elysée, then got out to walk and do some shopping. Took the train to near the camp, at Maisons-Laffitte and had dinner in a local restaurant. I am sure it was much cheaper than central Paris but still not cheap.
