Dunkirk and Calais. The full circle again!

Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France
Said "Goodbye" to Nils and family. Set off across northern Belgium then crossed into France. Spent some time looking at various war things related to the WW2 evacuation of Dunkirk.

Lunch at Bray-Dunes, overlooking the beach . Looked first at Zuydcoote War Cemetery then the beach at Dunkirk. 338,000 soldiers (including 123,000 French) were evacuated on 5/6th June 1940. Tried to get to a WW2 fort, but the fort was closed and the local gun club was having a meeting there!

Then looked at the Memorial to the Allies at Dunkirk Beach.

Then we drove to Calais. Full circle again - same Aire Communale overlooking the Harbour that we camped at for our FIRST night on March 8th, seven and a half months previously. This time, dinner out at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea.
