West coast and then Skye.

Portree, England, United Kingdom
First stop - Victoria Falls! Not quite the spectacular falls John had been to in Africa but lovely to look at, quickly in the rain. Perhaps our luck with the weather had ended.

Drove along the shore of Loch Maree and on to Shiedaig for coffee overlooking Loch Torridon . Followed the Loch shore then along the north and west coasts to Applecross, following the Wester Ross Coastal Trail. From there, inland over the Bealach na Ba (Pass of Fools or Pass of the Cattle, as you choose). This spectacular windy road rises to 640 metres, one of Britain's highest road passes. Beautiful in the sun, and a full rainbow over the mountains as we drove uphill.

We are finding more and more things are closed for the winter - souvenir shops, coffee shops and camp sites for a start.

Down to the coast again, and via Kyle of Lochalsh (Strait of Foaming Loch) and the Skye Bridge to the island of Skye, in the Inner Hebrides.

Drove north, looking at coastal (Loch Alsch) and inland scenery, to Portree, the principal town.
After a beautiful sunny day, the sky turned dark and rain set in, on and off, as we drove.
Skye not as dramatic as I had imagined; more rolling rounded mountains and cliffs falling to the sea.

Found a camp overlooking the sea, 150 metres above the water.
