Drove across Bodmin Moor to the pub called "Jamaica Inn," scene of the novel by Daphne Du Maurier. The pub was built as a coaching house in 1750. We looked at the museum , partly about the authoress and partly about Cornish smuggling through the years, the subject of the book. I had read almost all Daphne's books years ago, when I lived in Plymouth, but still learnt a lot more about her and her family. Her husband was in the bombing raid on Arnhem and coined the phrase "A Bridge Too Far".

Then across to Dartmoor and Princetown, site of H .M. Prison for really bad criminals! Met up with old friends Jo and Andrew for lunch at The Plume of Feathers pub, where I had been many times in the past when I lived nearby. Another great catch-up of family news over good food.

Then drove on across Dartmoor again. Stopped to climb to a Tor on Burrator Moor before driving to Lee Moor and on to Ivybridge.

Stayed again with Jenny and Rhidian, whom we stayed with in February. Another lovely night in front of a roaring fire with good food and lots of chatting. Great to see them again.
