I stepped outside early this morning...there was frost on the ground...and...I could see my breath. Looks like winter is upon us. It was a very nice, sunny day. Nice to have for the last day here in Great Falls.
On such a beautiful day we went out on the north river's edge trail but this time we started at the Ryan dam and rode our bikes to the Morony dam
. The trail between the two dams is 5 miles long and has the option of taking a high or low trail mid way through the journey, The trail was narrow and we had to watch for cactus so we didn't pop a tire. On the path that leads close to the river's edge there were a few sketchy spots where we were forced to walk the bikes rather than ride for fear of falling off of the bike on the wrong side. A fall on the wrong side would definitely hurt and may end up in the river. So, in all, we rode about 10 miles on goat trails. Our shins took many scrapes from the different types of cactus, shrubs and dead weeds. The trek was well worth it with the many switchbacks, valleys and hills with the always challenging rocks sticking up out of the path. Some of the rocks on the uphill paths caused us to stop suddenly. In most cases we tilted on the proper (up hill) side of the bike. Had to pull a cactus thorn out of Karen's palm after a minor spill.
I haven't mention this yet but there are a lot of casinos here. For every block we drive by there seems to be a casino available. These are not large casinos that we would see in Canada but mostly small ones.
As planned earlier in the week we went to Golden Corral for supper. After eating like that we could probably go without food for two days and we would be fine. The meal was delicious.
Tomorrow we pack up and head back to Alberta. We've had fun here exploring a new area.
