A trip to the Border

Sadao, Thailand
On Sunday Charmaine and I took a trip to the Malaysian Border to get her passport stamped. This is common for foreign workers in Thailand. It's a long 2 hour trip by bus (van). Along the way were some interesting 'real estate' sites and a lot of Rubber trees. Chances are the rubber in your tires came from the southern region of Thailand.

After arriving at the border, Charmaine went in to get her passport signed and I waited in 'no mans land' a small duty free section that's Thailand/Malaysia ....a tense moment on the way back....an Armed Malaysian Border guard asked to see our passports. As I handed mine to him he asked, "Where are you From?". I proudly replied, "United States of America, Sir"..which got my passport a second look over and a dirty look from the guard....guess we aren't well liked over there....but the good news was Charmaine has another 30 day....then its back to another point in Malaysia where she will get a 3 month extension and then take a Thai Culture class to extend her teaching visa for a year...but hopefully she will be in the US by then....I asked her mother, Mama Evangeline, for the family blessing for her daughter's hand in marriage...she said, "Of Course"....:)

I've also put in a picture I took in Songkhla of a local election.....you know how they bug you in the US with those phone calls?..her they drive trucks down the street with bull horns campainging for the canidates....glad that's over! And there's also a shot of Charmaine at the Japaneese restaraunt we ate at...boy...I'm gonna be disapointed when I get back and have to eat pizza and hotdogs! :)
