Mishol Ha waterfall

Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico
Again most left at 12.30 pm for the optional activity of seeing the 2 local waterfalls. There was nothing else in the area to do anyway.

First up was the Misol-Ha waterfall where we had 40 minutes to see. Some ventured right behind the falls and got thoroughly soaked!

I tried to remind myself how to take waterfall photos so excuse the apparent double up ... just trying different speeds! To make things worst I had my tripod with me but that was still in my bag!!! So if they are a bit blurry with camera shake, these are hand held slow shutter images.

As a result of the precipitation of a river by a cliff of limestone, this beautiful waterfall is about 30 m high, falling, forming a large pool where possible, with care, go swimming. This refreshing and beautiful place, is a typical example of the high tropical jungle of the Chiapas highlands, and in the middle of rich vegetation composed of high copies of mahogany, sapodilla water and sticks. The place runs like tourist park managed under a cooperative made up of local ejido residents, has discrete services, including restaurant and hospitality in pleasant rustic cabins. Thanks Mr Wikipedia.

Well that is one way of putting it. A bit run down is the area but a good introduction to the day's show piece.
