Westfall Culver City Mall = LAX transit layover

Sunday, January 12, 2014
Los Angeles, California, United States
Plane left late and 6 half hours later touched down at LAX.

My 23.5 kilo bag were tagged to go all the way to Auckland (I hope!) and having cleared immigration made my way to the curb side just after 4 pm local time to catch the LAX shuttle to the bus stop so that I could get a local no 6 bus to Fox Hills Mall. A local said take the G bus which I did. This took me to the end of the bus no 6 line where it connects with the metro Green line (Aviation LAX) into town. I should have followed my gut feeling and gone to nearer Lot C / LAX City Bus Centre to connect with the Culver City no 6 bus which may have got me to the mall a little bit earlier.

The web site which I had read before this trip said that the Fox Hills Mall closes on Sunday at 6 pm. Talking to a local, he said that the next bus should get me to Fox Hill at 5.40 pm. Well, the bus was late leaving and on arrival at the Plane left late and 6 half hours later touched down at LAX.

Well, the bus was late leaving and on arrival at the Westfall Culver City Mall (renamed) found that it closes at 7 pm on a Sunday. 10 am - 10 pm all other days for future trips. The Target store closes even later on a Sunday.

It all worked out in the end. At least I now know a bit more about the local bus / metro system now and Westfield Culver City. Yes, a good place to head to on a future transit visit to top up on any last minute American shopping.

My concern was the return bus trip as the information at the Green Line end said that it was instead of the usual 20 - 30 minutes frequency, it became hourly late on Sunday.

Had only an hour here at the mall so made the best of it to grab a bit to eat at the busiest food operator up on the 3rd level Dining Terrace and wandered around. It certainly reminded me of my week in San Francisco with names like Macy’s, Old Navy, JC Penny, Victoria’s Secret etc.

This was a nice diversion instead of spending some 6 hours at a LAX departure lounge ... plus the exact bus fare was only a US $1 each way.(renamed) found that it closes at 7 pm on a Sunday. 10 am - 10 pm all other days for future trips. The Target store closes even later on a Sunday.
