Tinajas Restaurant Dinner & Show

Saturday, January 11, 2014
Panama City, Panama
Back to the hotel at 8.10 pm to quickly catch a taxi to Tinajas Restaurant for their dinner and 9 pm dance and music show. Thought that I would be late but the hotel staff said ‘Go ... You will make it in time‘. Boris had already left as we were to meet at 7.30 pm at the hotel.

The restaurant interior decor was delightful, representing the old Spanish style towns, and the stage came alive with traditional accordion and drum musicians as the show began. The dancers performed dances from different parts of the country, ending with some in the traditional dresses, jewellery and head dresses. The devil mask dancers were great.

Being at the very back of the restaurant meant that I could stand to take photos / video but as it was a dinner / show the waiters were coming and going in front of me. In all just over $20 for the dinner and show. One had to spend over US $ 12 for the steak fillet meal which I certainly did.

Yes, it was a long day from the 6.30 am pick up then all day on the canal with some nearly 14 hours away from the hotel and finally capped off with this local dance performance. It started to get a bit repetitive after 30 minutes so I was glad that it was only for an hour. I had seen very little local dance culture on this trip so thanks again Bec for this wee bit of local culture on my last night in Central America.
