Miraflores Cliff Top Walk

Lima, Peru
The local remise (private taxi company) took just over 35 minutes to drive back to Miraflores. If we had left the city centre a bit later, it would have been much longer.

With the sun about to set, I had time to walk the 15 minutes down the middle of the wide Av Jose Pardo to the cliff top walk.

Turning left followed the twisting and winding path above the Pacific Ocean.

The local Limenos were out either cycling, on their skateboards, kids being pushed in their prams or strollers by their parents or simply walking enjoying the fresh sea air. Others were lying and relaxing on the grass.... Plus there were the kissing couples.

Passed the black and white striped La Marina lighthouse in Parque El Faro. This commemorates 100 years of navigation.

Continuing onwards and above Playa La Pampilla and Playa Waikiki (certainly nothing like the Honolulu, Hawaii one!) and Playa Makaha seeing the paragliders fly and land.

The sun had set by now but still had an orange glow in the far distance.

The pretty Paraue del Amor or Love Park with El Beso" (The Kiss) by Victor Delfin as its striking sculpture center piece.

Time to head inland up Malecon Balta passing the tennis courts and swimming pool before dropping into Wongs department store for some water.

Passing a Starbucks went in and saw that their Peru mug was only PEN37 soles whereas at the airport on my way through it was PEN42 soles. So another one for Brenda's collection.

By now it was dark and it was across to shady tree lined Parque Kennedy and Central Park. Central Park (no, not the one in New York) was truly crowded with the food vendors and their colourful carts. Yes, I should have taken a photo.

Now tired and hungry and didn't want the noise of the restaurants around the crowded Calle de las Pizzas or Central Park area, Panchita was only 2 blocks away.

Roast pig caught my eye and yes, the crackling was crunchy. Being the last day and knowing that tomorrow will be horrendous long travel day with airport and airline food, treated myself to the chocolate torte as well and put everything on the Visa as I certainly didn't have enough soles left.
