First Two Days at Caloundra

BIG4 Caloundra Holiday Park, Queensland, Australia
We've visited the Caloundra Arts Centre Association on a previous visit, but that was just to look through the shop they have in which they sell the full range of "artworks" produced by members of their Association. But on Saturday they were holding a Makers Market, a new artisan market for Caloundra supporting independent artists and designers, and so we took the short walk across from the caravan park to view the stalls. There was an interesting range of items on display, but nothing causing us to open our wallets.
Rather than return to the caravan park after going to the Makers Market we walked North along Caloundra’s Coastal Pathway. The Pathway is a 9 km stretch of paths, meandering along Caloundra’s beaches from Bells Creek in the South to Point Cartwright in the North. We didn't walk the full 9 km, but just a 2 km (4 km return) up to Kings Beach and that was far enough as it was starting to warm up.
After some lunch in the van and some time sitting outside in the shade, we went and did some grocery shopping so we had ingredients for meals for the next few days. This included a roast chook which we had with a salad for dinner.
Although the aroma of bacon around the caravan park was tempting, Sunday breakfast for us was pancakes. Topped with jam, honey, peanut butter and even some strawberries, they were delicious.
After breakfast we walked up to Bulock Street, Caloundra's main shopping strip. But on Sundays it's closed off to traffic for the Caloundra Street Fair. We thought there were less stalls than last time we'd visited, but there was still plenty to browse and a wide selection of food vans - but not so soon for us after our pancake breakfast!
Along Bulock Street we saw an arrangement of three flowers with colourful translucent petals which appeared to be lights over the footpath. Projection of the Sun through the petals produced very interesting patterns on the footpath.
This afternoon we decided to walk along another part of Caloundra’s Coastal Pathway; this time South towards Golden Beach in search of an ice cream shop. We probably walked around 2.5 km, meaning a 5 km return walk, before we found a SPAR supermarket at the Village Centre which had ice creams. Our feet certainly told us that we'd walked quite some distance today by the time we got back to the van.
The Caloundra Seafood Market is just around the corner from the caravan park and so we picked up some marinara mix on our way back from the Street Fair to top tonight's pizza. It was very tasty, however the Boomers weren't able to make it even tastier by winning the FIBA World Cup Bronze medal game.
