Jasper to Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks, British Columbia, Canada
Today we leave Jasper, stopping at Maligne Canyon - swirling, churning water has worn the canyon, only two metres across at some points, to a depth of more than 50 metres. Like another washing machine!!

Now on the Yellowhead Highway, we re-enter British Columbia, stopping to take in views of the south face of Mount Robson - which (at 12,972 ft) is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies . So lucky, Russ tells us that more often than not the summit is completely under cloud.

Next stop, the town of Blue River where we enjoy a BBQ lunch at the dock before boarding a custom designed boat. We skim the waterways of Blue River looking for wildlife and whoo hoo, we see a black bear. We quietly glide along the shoreline following the bear who seems oblivious to our boats. It is a sight we have all been waiting for and there is silence amongst us as we watch in awe.

In the afternoon, we arrive at the alpine village of Sun Peaks nestled at the base of three mountain peaks. It is a late arrival at Sun Peaks so after settling in, we make our way to the bar downstairs for "Happy Hour" sippers. Started with just us four and ended up with about half of our tour group. Our circle just kept getting bigger and bigger.
