Penguin, Tasmania, Australia
Sunday 1 February Devonport – Penguin

Sunny and warm 23

We woke to news that Queensland had voted in Labour & Australia won the Asian Cup in Soccer . Today is our first golf day so after a hearty breakfast at the local bakery in Ulverstone we made our way to Ulverstone Golf Club just a short drive away. We were welcomed to the course by the Pro who insisted that this club was the best in Tasmania and that we would certainly enjoy the challenges. We played 9 holes and then one of the members joined us for the last 9 holes. Yes, it was challenging and very pretty. Dad was declared the winner of the day and
Chris came in 2nd.

We drove then onto Penguin which is a very small town on Bass Strait with Penguin statues everywhere. We have a beautiful new 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the water and beach. It is just lovely. A nice bakery just 50 metres away we had lunch and bought some delicious cakes for dessert. There is a small IGA down the road so we bought supplies for dinner. After a relaxing afternoon, we watched the final of the Men’s Tennis and Novac Djokovic won against Andy Murray.
