We left Sydney @ 9.45 p.m. and after a 10.5 hour flight, arrive in Honolulu around 11:00 a.m. the next the same day. We then had to wait 4 hours for our transfer flight to Maui which took another 45 mins.

On arrival in Maui and eager to get to our resort, we quickly retrieved our baggage and found our transportation company to get to the Westin Nanea resort. Unfortunately, bad news - the road to that part of the Island had just been closed due to a Moped accident and it would not open for another 2 hours. So we entertained ourselves at Starbucks (the only entertainment next to the transportation desk) and waited for our departure.

All in all 21 hours had passed from the time we took off in Sydney and 35 hours since we had woken up by the time we arrived at our beds.

Our friends Don and Jane were waiting for us with cheese and wine before a 'healthy' pizza arrived for dinner. It was great to see them again and also, the beautiful new accommodation we are staying in for the week. The Westin we are in is the newest in a row with 4 other similar resorts, all owned by Westin. We sat out on the balcony in the balmy evening air until we were falling asleep and had to go to bed.
