This morning after breakfast we take a long walk again to The Whalers
Village and have a coffee. There is a cookie shop that sells cookies shaped
like small pineapples - a great tourist attraction - we purchase some to take
home.
Jane and I decide to go snorkelling today at a popular spot on the beach
in front of the Resort. We get the kit from the resort and are set to go. Many
tourists are entertained by our attempts to don snorkel and flippers, and then
walk into the surf from the beach. I immediately fall as the first small wave
knocks me off my feet, only to realise I am still wearing my watch (it does
survive). Jane needs a bit more encouragement so I grab her by the hand and
drag her under (or she would still be waiting to go in). After the
entertainment, we find the fish are all quite striking, bright yellow fish,
striped fish, polka dot fish and plenty of coral. It is a lovely just floating
above and watching it all. After half an hour we are both a bit cool so head
for shore and call it a day.
This afternoon Chris and I take the shuttle to the Outlet Mall and we
get some shirts for Chris (Tommy Hilfiger and Gap) and a Coach handbag for
me, I also get another pair of shorts. The prices are very reasonable with huge
discounts, even after the conversion from $US to $AUD.
Tonight we head back to Lahaina to a restaurant called Fleetwoods, (owned
by Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac band fame – but he’s not playing tonight). We
sit outside and once again, quite protected from the wind enjoy a lovely dinner
and a few drinks.
Finally, around 10, we wander back up the main street (Front Street) of
Lahaina and somehow find ourselves back at the Outlet Mall (I know, I can
hardly believe it myself). A quick raid on the Coach handbag store for us, then
it’s back on the bus and home to sleep off another big day and night touristing
in Maui.
