Touring Hawkes Bay

Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
The forecast looked threatening, so we decided to skip golf and do some touring and see some local attractions. First up was the Faraday Museum of Technology. They had a wonderful display of technology through the ages. It has a Tesla coil which they demonstrated so you could view the lightening bolts from the energy created powering  unattached fluorescent lights. They have a section on engines, motors, and transportation with lots of old cars, farm equipment and trucks. A section on communication with phones, TV's and old reel to reel tape recorders. We found a  Morse code machine which Dad used with ease remembering all the codes. It's a very hands on display and you can play, touch and use just about everything there. Lots of fun until a bunch of young school kids arrived and we departed.
Our next attraction was the Silky Oak Chocolate Shop and café. We visited the shop and bought some chocolate ginger and hokey pokey, but first had lunch at the café which was very good.
The afternoon has turned windy and cool so we went to the Globe movie cinema which is just near the entrance to our apartment building. We see "The Duke" about the painting of the Duke of Wellington that was stolen from the National Gallery. It was a good movie but the cinema is outstanding, the seats are large and comfortable and with only about 10 patrons in the theatre we felt very comfortable.
Dad had another Osteopath appointment with Ru and it was at Hastings about 30 mins away, the visit seems to have been a success but we will see how he feels in the morning.
