Once again we woke to a perfect morning sunrise over Wellington Harbour. We can't believe how mild the weather is for late May and it's a crystal blue sky and calm harbour outside. After breakfast we go for a walk down Jackson street, the main shopping street of Petone for coffee. I also pick up my beads which have been restrung at the bead shop.
This morning we are going to the golf driving range just across the street from Shandon Golf Club where every bay has a "trackman". This is a treat and it's not as crowded as other times we have been there. It's lots of fun and in no time we have hit our 100 balls.
We have lunch at Butlers Chocolate Shop in Queensgate at Lower Hutt, which in my opinion has the best hot chocolate and selection of chocolates. We take a stroll around the Mall which is a small version of Westfield. We window shop but buy nothing,
Rik and Vicki invited us to see their house and laundry renovation and head out to Whitby. It's been so long since we have been in NZ we also see the Granny Flat where Sarah lives and the vegie gardens.
Their place looks great, we can see the prep work that is done as they begin to paint and put down the new flooring in the kitchen.
We leave and head back to Petone as we have plans to do a spot of shopping. The dress shop I planned to visit has closed 1hr early so I won't be buying the dress I saw, instead Chris buys some books that look interesting from a small local bookshop.
We complete out immigration documentation for Australia and have all documents online for our departure tomorrow.
Our last dinner out is at Charlie Nobles in the city. We are unable to book as they only take walk in's. We wait at the bar with a glass of Champagne for about 30 mins and then get a table. The meal is delicious but the restaurant is very noisy with the crowd of patrons, It's been a lovely holiday and tomorrow we return home so are not expecting to do much.
