Lincoln (and Cheshire and way home)

Lincoln, England, United Kingdom
The beginning of July saw us travel up to Lincoln to take part on the Oman Golf Association meeting.  This is a bit of fun with a bunch of ex-Oman expats meeting up for a chin wag and a few rounds of golf.  We stayed in a golf club just outside Lincoln and had a very nice few days socialising.  The golf was not so great and I even managed to with the 'Wooden Spoon' Prize.  I got this for missing the shortest put; in my case about 1cm! The ball was on the edge of the hole and as I went to tap it in I managed to know it further from the hole instead.  This was compounded by us managing to play the 8th hole twice! The access to the 15th crossed the 8th tee box and since we were new to the course didn't realise we had played it already, until we got to the green when it suddenly looked familiar.... whoops.
We enjoyed the few days and shall repeat the trip next year when the event will be in Cheshire.
While we were in Lincoln we took the chance have a loom around the town and the cathedral.  It is HUGE! It must be the biggest cathedral I've been in and it was really impressive.
At the end of the week we travelled across the country to Cheshire where my old best man and his wife were having their 40th Wedding Anniversary party.
Howard and Linda had a marquee by the Anderton Boat lift.  This is a Victorian device which raises and lowers a whole section of the canal and connects it to the River Weaver. It's mighty impressive and was restored and few years ago to working condition.
After lunch we got to go on a barge down the lift and along the river for a jolly.
The next night we stayed with Robbie and Julie in Staffordshire to take a look at their re-furbishment project.  Robbie will re-furbish his 60's house while building a new kit house in the very large garden.  A massive project which will take a couple of years I expect.  Rather him than me.
Our final stop was Annie's cousin's house in Bewdley, on the River Severn in Worcestershire. They live in a small cottage in the centre of the town.  Not for me.....
A nice trip.
