19/02/15 - Auckland has it's own Coast to Coast walk - 16 km across the country from Waitemata Harbour to Manukau Harbour. It passes through the many reserves and is well marked, blue colour for northbound and yellow for south bound.

We had done this walk on one of our previous visits to NZ but being the winter, we were carrying coats, scarves etc . This time the weight was made up by the amount of water - it was a hot, sunny, bright day. Each season presents it's own challenge.

We set off in a northerly direction at 9.00 am and were soon trudging uphill but I am happy to say that despite the heat and the numerous uphill climbs were still standing at the end. The views over Auckland and it's harbours were breath-taking.

It took us 6 hours altogether allowing for drinks, lunch, photo breaks etc.

Not bad for a couple of oldies!!

Needless to say we both had a good night's sleep that day.

Now we need to get Champ ready for her next set of travels before we too leave NZ - sad day indeed.
