La Coruna, Spain, Spain and Canary Islands
We are writing this in La Coruna after arriving here on Tuesday afternoon. We left Crosshaven on Friday morning into a Southerly headwinf which lasted for nearly 30 hours and then died completely for a further 30 we had to sail under the iron topsail!

We had expected it to be a comfortable journey using Jeck (the self steering) but Jeck, fine seaman tthat he is, could not cope with light winds or under engine . This meant that we had to steer for much of the way.

When the wind eventually came it gace us some tremendous sailing and we were able to relax and read while Jeck did the work. Gina´s highlight for the trip was when she was on the helm at 1am and was escorted by porpoises for around an hour. They gave her something like an underwater firework display with their phosphorescent trails and splashes. They also talked for much of the time just like Gina. Still it did gice her someone else to talk at other tham Monty and I.

By Monday we were getting tired and both were hearing voices from the equipment on the boat. In my case I could swear that, for around 3 hours, I could hear a Welsh male voice choir singing just under the boat!

We arrived at about 16.00 in La Coruna with a force 5-6 up our tail as forecast by Jeff (Gina´s bro. in law) who we had bee phoning via satellite to get dail forecasts - thanks Jeff.

La Coruna is delightful, no one speaks English but are very tolerant of us and our pidgin Spanish.

We will put photos on the blog when we can find a more sophisticated cyber cafe.
