For our last weekend with Mani, we flew to Kolkata. We arrived late at night and realised quickly, that this city is different and special. After a nights sleep and a tasty Indian breakfast we headed out to explore the city. As usual, we just started walking without a clear route or destination in mind. And this proofed to be the best thing to do. Just stepping out into the streets we were taken in by all the sights of people on the streets, dilapidated houses, small shops and throngs of men hauling their loads through the city. Everywhere we looked, people were busy buying, selling and distributing everyday goods. It was absolutely fascinating!
Of course we also visited the major sights like Victoria Memorial, St. Pauls Cathedral and Howrah Bridge. But the main attraction for us was definitely just walking for kilometres through the streets and markets.
