Day 37: Quartz Creek/Cooper's Landing, Alaska

Cooper Landing, Alaska, United States
Today was the first washout day of our whole trip - it was raining when we woke up, raining when we finally got out of bed, and rained solid until about 6pm. That helped us make the decision to stay in place today - a great rate at this campsite ($9/day thanks to Linda's Senior Pass) and a great view, so we decided it was time to relax and do some bill pay. Last night, during Sara's night walk, we met a couple from Tennessee, celebrating their 20th anniversary, who were camping in a rented RV - she was a dog lover, so stopped us to meet Sara. She gave us the tip that they had made their reservation a year in advance to get a 50% rate discount on the RV rental and had stayed at the State campgrounds for $15 to 20 per night the whole trip - after flying from TN to Anchorage. They had caught several halibut and salmon that were being frozen and shipped home, so she felt the trip was a great financial deal. We may have to learn to fish to pay for this trip! So just a day of computer work and walking the dog in the rain and watching the rainy river - the birds were the only thing moving today. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so more to follow.
