Taking time out of my temporary home at Stone Mountain Park to test out Bolding Mill Park near my Dad's home on Lake Lanier. Turns out that last time I took my RV in for repairs, Dad and his wife Pat started looking around the dealership, and came away with their own pre-owned Class C Motorhome! So we planned a "test camp" for them to practice the hookups and test the equipment. They found this Corps of Engineer Park near their home, and it was a beautiful lakefront campsite. My friend Carla came with me for this trip since Linda "had to go to Hawaii" for a family visit. Linda was missed, but Carla said she had always wanted to travel in an RV, so off we went for the 1 hour 15 minute journey to Gainesville. We camped next to Dad and Pat with their 7 small dogs - Pat had thought of everything for their comfort and containment so they seemed quite content. Carla enjoyed spoiling Gittels, the blind dachshund, but Sara was unimpressed by her cuteness! We enjoyed walking the perimeter and beaches of the park and loved the dry, cool fall weather. Dad had some blazing campfires in the evening, but looking back, was probably a bad idea in light of drought and current wildfires. We toured Dad and Pat's RV, then enjoyed studying the features of all the other camping RV's. Pat made Gumbo and Brunswick stew, we brought the salad and veggies. The second day Carla and I washed windows, walked the park, and got the outdoor sound system working so we could enjoy our music while reading. Carla was my coworker and cabin co-owner for more than 20 years, so it was fun to share some time together again.
