Rockport, Texas, United States
Today is a more boring day, thank goodness!!! Just taking care of yesterday's business! We met Captain John this morning - he parks across the street from us, has decorated his 5th wheel trailer and yard in "ocean/pirate motif". I thanked him for moving his car last night so we could back the RV into a tight space and he came over to offer advice on the tire situation and accident damage. Then I officially checked in with Nick at the office and got another tire store recommendation, Craig's Tires in Rockport. So we unhooked, packed up the RV and headed into town - Craig suggested tire balancing and rotating the two new Firestone tires to the front, and all 4 Michelins to the rear. He inspected for damage from the blown tires, but said all was good underneath. So $40 for balancing sounded pretty fine! While the RV was in tire repair, we walked the town of Rockport, kind of reminded me of small fishing towns in New England, except with a Texas flair! See the pic of Gunslinger's :). I found a beach house I want when I win the lotto - and weather is sunny, Gulf water is clear and warmer, town was cute. While entering the free aquarium in town, my CPA and the insurance adjuster started calling, so I had to miss the rest of the aquarium in order to take phone calls. The CPA gave me a lot of homework to try to track down thanks to retirement changes, but the insurance adjuster from Texas Farm Bureau was shockingly helpful. He was notified of the claim late yesterday, talked with me this morning, considered sending an adjuster to me this week, but we are moving on to Corpus Christi tomorrow, so he asked for a few more pictures, and had his adjuster review them today, and will be cutting me a check tonight to pay for damages! That was all accomplished in about 28 hours from time of accident! I will try to get the work done when I stay awhile in Phoenix next month. So back to the RV park, more direction by Nick to get us backed in perfectly, hooked up again for the night, and quickly getting Sara and I a good shower - Sara outside, mine at the bathhouse! We also managed to sauté some lamb burgers on the stove since no grills provided at the camp sites here, but it was all good! And we'll be getting ready to move on tomorrow to points south, hopefully on safe tires!
