Canyon Lake to San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, Texas, United States
We left Canyon Lake Sunday morning, headed to the other side of the lake to see the dam where Guadalupe River was blocked and the Overlook Park is created. We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and walking in breezy, sunny weather. Next we headed back south to San Antonio, stopping for gas and groceries. I was so excited to find gas for $1.94/gal, so filled up on the spot, but then found that gas at the popular grocery store, HEB, was $1.89/gal!! We finally made it up to 9.4 miles/gallon, so really need to get a good price! Next we checked out a doggy daycare for Sara, hoping to drop her there tomorrow while we do the day in town. Lucy's doggy daycare seemed very nice with plenty of playtime with the other dogs and staff, but I hate that I have to drive into town in the RV on Monday morning to drop her off. On the way to the campground, we saw a Bill Miller BBQ and decided to drive through for Texas ribs and an immediate dinner fix. We arrived at Travelers World Campground (near Brooks Medical Center, south of downtown), and directly on the Riverwalk Trail and the San Antonio River. We walked the trail a short distance tonight, watching the sunset as we walked, but planning to take the bikes out tomorrow - 5 miles north to downtown, 5 miles south to the last of the 5 missions on this trail. Guess we better get up early!!
