Tucson, Arizona, United States
Need to catch up on a couple days - I've had time to relax and catch up on some needed paperwork. First of all, this KOA Campground in Tuscon is unbelievable - wonderful conveniences! They have 2 laundry rooms with about 20 washer/dryers at each, and the convenience of credit card pay instead of buying and inserting 50-60 quarters into machines. Sara loves the dog park, and now we've discovered the nature pond and picnic area with glider benches and putting greens if you care to golf. A couple of friends from our military years came to visit and we ate at the Cantina next to the pool, another good experience! Tomorrow eve is Happy Hour at the Cantina, need to put that on the calendar! Lunch was a nice reunion and they gave me tips on what to see in Tucson. Then I had to sit down and finish writing the checks for my taxes :(. I'm also trying to get more reservations for Phoenix, where I will have a long stay, and not getting a good response (my dog is too big, or they just don't answer the phone). This morning, I set out on many errands - checked out the Petsmart doggie daycare, found a hair salon (after a couple tries at other salons) - Hair Industry was outside my usual comfort zone, but I loved my stylist (a gay, black man who knew color and blow drying for the naturally frizzy!). Then found a post office to get taxes and a few packages in the mail, a Sprouts for some veggies, then lucked into finding a Discount Tire store - another tire pressure check, this time requiring removal of hub cap and outer left tire (since he let a good bit of air out while trying to check the pressure). But he also gave me a list of things to do in Tucson, so it was not a waste of time :). Then back to the KOA, where I met another single woman outside my RV who was picking fruit off the trees - when I asked if that was her fruit picker, she told me they have them at the desk and you can use them to pick as much fruit as you want. She leaves for Gulf Shores, AL tomorrow and had lots of questions about tornadoes, said she doesn't see those in Colorado! She was loading up on grapefruit for her trip, and a few Mexican limes for the Tequila - I'm going to have to look for the limes! Was proud of myself for getting around Tucson in the RV - they do have great roads like Phoenix - wide and on a planned grid so it's easier to understand the routes. Sara is not eating tonight, but has become more "regular" so hope there are no further issues pending.
