Joberg to Madagascar

Antananarivo, Kempton Park, Madagascar
We left at 5:45 AM and found our way amongst the darkness in the farm trails. Took one wrong turn but made it back on the right track and headed for the highway. Returned the car,
proceeded to do our check in with Air Namibia and asked that our luggage goes to Madagascar without collecting our bags in Joberg . We have a few hours wait in Joberg, long enough for us to have lunch and relax a few hours while we wait. We will be flying Air Madagascar at 16:55 instead of 16:10. A little delay but at least we will have a flight, we were all worried because our flight was not even on the departures board until 1:45 PM.

Once at the airport, there were two drivers to greet us. The hotel sent a pick-up and our driver for the month. We told the hotel pickup that we never requested a shuttle service since we had our own driver. All was well after a somewhat chaotic arrival, 5-6 guys surrounded us to carry our bags. We kept our own things and headed for the ATM, while closely guarding our bags. It was past 9:00 PM and the airport was crowded with locals trying to sell euro coins. The airport ATM did not work so for the moment we have no cash.

Our drive into town was rather depressing, no street lights, garbage everywhere, locals warming up with campfires on the sidewalks, young hookers at work, and lots of people just watching the cars drive by. We finally arrived at the Sakamanga Hotel and it turned out to be a little piece of heaven in a shady neighbourhood. Our room and the hotel were clean, comfortable and cute too. We stayed one night and off we go...but we come back here in a month for one more night before we head for the Ile Maurice & the Seychelles while Lucie and Louise head for South Africa.
