Ambalavao, Fianarantsoa, Madagascar
This morning we left Ambalavao to visit Anja Park, famous for it's population of ring-tailed lemur. We hired a guide and a tracker and took off on our short hike. The guide was getting on Francois nerves so we told him to keep going with the girls and we stayed for over an hour observing and photographing the Ring-tailed lemurs. The tracker stayed with us and the guide named "Douze" went with the girls.

We then backtracked to Ambavalao Village to visit the Zebu market which is the biggest in Madagascar . People from all over come to sell or purchase the hump back cattle. Very few women are at this event unless they are at a stall selling coffee and fried snacks. Upon our arrival, several children ran up to us and walked with us during our photo shoot. It was highly colourful and somewhat stinky, as Zebu dung was every where.

The next stop was at a local silk workshop, featuring the various steps to produce different types of scarves, some from wild silk worms and others (much whiter) from raised silk worms. In this shop only natural pigments are used to dye the silk. Beets for the red, green from lotus flower leaves, cinnamon for brown, curcuma for the yellow and many more. The tour ends in a little boutique with the finished products.

Tonight we decided to go out as husband and wife for a nice little supper, just the two of us. We went to a French owned restaurant/hotel called Varangue Betsileo. We met the owner who's name was Sylvine and her husband Claude. Jose, our driver, dropped us off at 7:00PM and we told him to pick us up around 8:30PM. We had a really nice meal in a very quiet and quaint decor, with the exception of one other group of four.
