Moving Day

La Rinconada, Lima, Peru
We got up and packed our suitcases and said goodbye to our great little apartment. After mass at the church next to Parque de los Gatos, we walked around a bit. Every Sunday morning they have a fiesta in the park. Bikes for rent, jazzercise and yoga in the street, face painting, art vendors.

We ate lunch at the Club Tennis Terrazas, guests of cousin Richard. We ran into Richard's brother Joaquin and his girlfriend. The photo doesn't really show it, but our waiter, in the middle, was a spittin' image of Memphis Tigers basketball coach Josh Pastner! Now we know what he does when he's not coaching!

Took a cab to the La Molina district and moved into our new quarters at the house of Armando's cousin Magda and husband Pepe.

Magda took us for a ride to see the lake nearby and the beautiful ducks. I especially liked that white bird. Don't know what he is, but he was standing on one foot and looked to me like a Dr. Seuss creation.

Then we went to a friend of Magda's - she is from Colombia and was married to a man from Racine Wisconsin. The house is beautiful, the gardens even more so. The property is huge and backs right up to the mountains. There are 2 ponds, a pool, stables though no horses any more. The Rinconada Country Club is right next door and they sold a lot of their land to the club. We had tea time there (sandwiches, cookies and tea).

We are a ways from the ocean here, so it's warmer than it was in Miraflores. Everyone says it's so cold here - I would love it if this was the weather all the year around!!

Don't forget - you can always click on any picture to make it bigger.
