Day 18 - Huntington WV to HOME!

Monday, May 18, 2015
Memphis, Tennessee, United States
As I said in the last post, we decided it's time to go home. Today was our longest drive - 532 miles. The first day was the second longest - 309. I think the first 300 miles is just getting out of town! The rest of the days the longest was 285 miles. Our total trip was 3,515 miles or 5,657 KM.

We were really really lucky with weather. Only the last couple days we had some rain, mostly sprinkles except for a brief but impressive downpour yesterday and again today. Luckily they didn't last long.

We almost made it home with no scars, but west of Nashville a truck threw a stone at us and we now have a 1.5 inch crack in the windshield. If that's the worst that happens, we aren't complaining.

Some interesting town names - in West Virginia we went through a town named Hurricane and just down the road was Tornado. And how would you like to be from Looneysville??

We drove through Kentucky horse country today, many beautiful farms with white fences and huge pastures, but not one horse in sight. Go figure.

Driving through Nashville....who designed the Batman building? Didn't they know how stupid and silly it would look?

Almost home.....

We have the best neighbors in the whole wide world. Not only do they watch over our cat and our mail and our house and mow the lawn and water the plants, Romy leaves dinner for us....tonight was her excellent fresh tomato and other veggies pasta and an antipasto selection. What a great way to come home from a vacation, knowing the cupboard is bare and not really wanting to face one more restaurant meal. And milk and juice and fruit for breakfast tomorrow. Our neighbors are the greatest!!!!

And finally, here is the happiest cat in Tennessee tonite, maybe even they happiest cat in the world.
