It was 8-something in the morning when our crew arrived at the Keleti (Eastern) Train Station of the Hungarian capital. There were 5 of us, as two of our other pals joined us during the night, hopping on at Cluj.
The time on train flew relatively fast, as we struggled to get some rest between two cans of beer
. Okay, make it three. Plus the one in the dining car... Whatever...
We had a pre-booked hostel, called Caterina, near the Oktogon Földalatti (metro) station. Carrying all the stuff through the windy-icy budapestean morning was quite a challenge, but we got along eventually and we checked in for a hot coffee in a nice little bar. As I am an ethnic Hungarian, generally I would understand the language spoken by other people in this place, but not this cafeteria. It was filled with nobody but foreigners. It had a nice, modern and sleek design and the atmosphere was nice. There were rustic paintings on the wall and everything was nicely arranged. And the armchairs were comfy too. The guests might choose from a vast collection of coffees from all around the world. I chose a big American one, as I was trying to get myself wrapped up after the long ride.
Then, we spent the day with a short nap and met some close friends and former classmates in the evening. We attended a couple of bars, drank some fine beers, played table-football and pool and had nice chats. Then I got home, though a bit earlier than the others, as I was falling apart.
Can't wait to see the slopes..
Meeting some good friends, quickly :)
