We ate a leisurely breakfast and made preparation to get "underway". We pulled out of the Grenville Park about 10 a.m. and drove on Highway 2, which parallels the St. Lawrence River. We enjoyed the scenes of the river, the islands, the houses on islands and everything in between! Finally, at Morrisville, I decided that we needed to get moving, so I turned on a road that intersected the Trans-Canada Highway. As we are traveling along at a 100kph clip, I saw a sign advertising the Long Sault Parkway, which basically island hops in a loop. So, I quickly exited the freeway and told the girls that they were in for a big surprise. The Long Sault Parkway is a 2 lane manicured parkway that passes over eleven islands. It was absolutely beautiful and certainly the highlight of the day.

 

We arrived at our campground,which was southeast of Montreal, in the town of Sainte-Madelein, Quebec. Our intent was to unhook the trailer and set up as quickly as possible, in order to make it to the Jean Talon Market before they closed. It was one of the top 10 things to do according to Trip Advisor in Montreal. There is a crepe restaurant, which was highly rate inside the market. The produce and flowers were so fresh and looked fantastic. There was also a stall that sold eggs. Nearby was a store that sold fish - all sort of seafood. Stalls that sold wines, honey, and other necessity for cooking.



We were able to eat dinner - crepes - before they closed the restaurant (at 6 p.m.). Having never eaten a real crepe before, I was surprised that they are made of buckwheat. Creperie Du Marche has a whole selection of meats, cheeses, vegetables that can be put into your order. It was very good, but I'm glad that I had iced tea to wash it down (I'm not a bread eater!).

After eating, we hopped into our truck and went searching for the Mont Royal, which is an overlook that you can see all of Montreal. It is much like Griffith Park in Los Angeles. However, in trying to follow Google maps, I accidentally turned into the parking lot of the Montreal Neurological Hospital! The parking attendance was very nice and spoke good English. He set me straight on how to reach the top of Mont Royal.

After a short visit at the top ~ and being very tired from the morning drive ~ we decided to head back to the trailer and get some sleep. Tomorrow, we will explore Montreal!
