On this morning, we drove up to Freeport, ME in order to see the L.L. Bean company. Fall colors were at their peak, it seemed at Freeport. In the front window of the L.L. Bean Outlet Store, there are two moose that had locked horns in battle. They were found dead (probably from starvation) with their horns still locked. You can read the story in one of the pictures. When finished shopping, we returned to the campground, hooked up the trailer and headed south.

We headed down U.S. 1 on our way to the Boston area. We wanted to see several towns on the coast like Kennebunkport, Ogunquit and Kittery Point. The towns were very well kept and looked immaculate! I believe Arlene took some pictures, but I was busy driving and Sharon was enjoying the scenery. The one picture that I managed to get was of a seaside community that really reminded me of the west coast.

 

Soon we came to Kittery, ME which is right across the river from Portsmouth, NH. Driving over the Piscataqua River Bridge, we entered New Hampshire. Portsmouth is quite a historic town in its own right. We did a quick tour and captured a few pictures. The word "quick" is the reason some of the buildings are on an angle.

The road through New Hampshire is only about 27 miles long along the coast. We soon entered the state of Massachusetts. We pulled into the campground, Winter Island Maritime Park and set up for the night.
