A short drive today as we head further down the coast to Split. We're looking forward to seeing Split as we have heard so much about it (and we have been trying to get there for the past three years).

Arrived just after lunch . On the way in we received a phone call from Andrij, the hotel manager, to inform us that our room was ready for an early book-in, and that he would meet us at our designated parking space in the city. Our hotel is in the UNESCO heritage listed and there are no cars allowed. His last words were "Split has many many one way streets, be patient". Well, one way streets are something we have become used to in Europe.

Arrived at the parking space - not in a car park, but a street space allocated to the Hotel. Andrij met us there to transport us to the hotel in an electric golf buggy (these are allowed inside the city walls). Wasn't long before we were booking into the hotel, the Palace Judita. Absolutely wonderful hotel. It is part of a building which is about 600 years old. some of the original brickwork is still evident in the rooms. Andrij even gave us a welcoming glass of wine to settle in with - liking Split already.

Later that afternoon we took a walk along the port promenade. Seems like everyone who lives in Split is there as well. Hundreds of people out walking, talking drinking. Looks like this is the way to spend Sunday afternoon. Had a very pleasant time, sitting and drinking coffee (and beer), watching the world go by as the sun went down over the water.
