Vienna Day 2

Vienna, Austria
We woke up to a cloudy, not yet rainy day around 8:30. Our free 3 hour walking tour around the center of Vienna was to begin at 10:45 so we needed to leave our hostel at 10AM. All things went according to schedule and we arrived at the tour starting point (in front of Votiv Church).

The tour took us around downtown seeing the University of Vienna, The Rathous, Parliament, The Hofburg (Albertina/Spanish Riding School, etc .), Museums Quartier, Karlskirche, Belvedere, StadtOper, Stefansdom . All-in-all it was a very informative tour and we learned a lot about Vienna. We tipped the guide 10 euros and continued on our way.

We then made our way to McDonalds to utilize their free WiFi access. After regrouping, we went to the Naschmarkt, a flea market type outdoor market which is a must-see in Vienna. We enjoyed walking through it and seeing all of the Viennese Culture on display. Luckily, it was not crowded at the time we went through.

After stopping in a few other souvenir stores, we made our back home for a quick nap.

Once we were rested, we made our way back out to see a little bit of Vienna in the nighttime. We walked around the Stephansdom area and had a couple of beers together (Dilyara had a beer/juice mix called radler). It was very relaxed.

After walking for a little bit more, we headed home to prepare ourselves for tomorrow; Schloss Schonbrunn.

The weather today was better than the first day, but still consisted of large bouts of rain and strong gusts of wind. It is amazing how quick the weather has changed from about 95 degrees to about 66 degrees over a couple days….
