Bless (Goodbye) to Iceland

Reykjavík, Reykjavíkurborg, Iceland
Had an alarm at 8:15, breakfast and checked out around 10:10. We really appreciated all three Front Desk clerks at Center Hotel Klöpp and told them we will write a glowing review. Loved the location, the view of the mountain and bay from our room and the always helpful staff.
We walked down to Bus Stop 14 and were picked up about 10:30. Again taken to a bus terminal where a large bus took us to the airport. We were happy to see the scenery in daylight.
We were so early to the airport that no one was at the airline counter. We printed out our luggage tag and placed it on the belt. We then went through security and again, too early to have a gate assignment. We went to the Duty Free Shop and purchased an Icelandic gin, Glacier, and a liqueur. Couldn’t decide whether to buy the liqueur or schnapps made from the same plant. The woman at checkout took us to a man who opened up a closet and let us taste. We hated the schnapps and loved the liqueur. We still had 2,200 krona (about $15) so bought two lagers. The super friendly checkout guy gave us each one lucky krona (the only money we had left). Enjoyed our lagers in beer glasses with some chips and headed toward our gate. Realizing we both liked the orange and black volcano hat (5,600 krona or $40), we backtracked to a store and bought one. Now off to the gate. There were several security checks. We were put on a bus and driven to the plane. The plane was not full so we had the three seats to ourselves. Dave blogged and Sue tried to nap.
Flight arrived in Baltimore early and Global Entry was a breeze. We waited awhile for our luggage and called a Lyft. Norman picked us up in four minutes.
Great trip!
