Bridgetown, Saint Michael, Barbados
Late waking up today, nearly 07.00, and we'd already docked back in Barbados. We had to go and do our immigration formalities at 07.30 so went for breakfast after that. Tomorrow we have to leave our cabin at 09.00 and we don't leave the ship until after 14.00 so we have paid extra to keep a cabin for the day but for some reason it can't be the one we are in. After breakfast we walked into Bridgetown, the road is not good but there is a semi shaded walkway alongside the seafront, it took about 20 minutes before we reached any shops and bars. The last 300 metres is on a boardwalk, we spotted a nice bar but had to wait for the bridge to be lowered, it had been raised to let some yachts pass through. By the time we got to the bar with a seat upstairs overlooking the marina it was gone 11.00 which is when happy hour was supposed to end but the bar owner decided to extend it to noon. So I had several beers and Fiona had 2 run punches. It was a slower stroll back after that but we did divert through the main shopping streets, quite lively for a Thursday I thought.
We got back and had lunch and then did some more sunbathing, its tough. I did go to the gym and do some rowing though. We had decided not to go to the main restaurant but to The Conservatory for dinner as it was Indian Buffett Night! So we went a bit later than we had been eating, it was quiet, we both thought it may have been busier than it was. Pakoras, bhajis, samosas, poppadums and pickles to start and then a good choice of various curries, they even had Tiger beer available.
Then it was back to finish the packing which we had started in the morning, attach the labels and stick the bags outside the room for collection.
