The long anticipated arrival

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten
I've been waiting for this moment ... for over a year .....

Stayed at Karla and Duo's place last night . Woke up at 3:30 and left at 4:00. Had to catch the 4:30 shuttle ... So I thought. It was actually 4:45. That's why I was a little antsy when we were routed through Carnegie due to the Parkway being closed. Poor little Frankie, our Jack Russell\Dachshund, was noticeably distressed when we left.

The flights down were pretty uneventful. Met numerous couples with the same mission in mind as us at the gate. The BHTM fans just sort of ... I dunno .... Sensed each other. Had the middle seat for the leg to St. Maarten which was a little bit of a bummer. But, the main goal was to get to the island and that we did. Most of the fellow cruise mates all were in the same general section of the plane so the atmosphere was good.

Immigration .... Customs ... C'mon already I've been here for an hour. I need in this order:

Beer, palm trees, water and Caribbean breeze!

I was feeling all Jack Russell inside .

Text from Chris: "Dude- do yourself a favor- grab your bags and take a cab. Please trust me. Just go in our room. They had one open up so we are right next to you. You-410 us-409. We will be at the bar when you get here. Dinner reservations are for 8:00pm."

So we did just that. We grabbed a cab with fellow cruisers Paul, Jean, their 2 friends and another couple. The driver was nice. Very friendly. Drive in was uneventful as well. Love seeing different cultures.

Arrived at the hotel around 5, so around 90 min from wheels down to hotel. Checked in, met up with Kim and Chris, and sat down for a nice relaxing happy hour.

This place is beautiful.

Dinner at 8 was nice, mostly because of the environment and not the restaurant or its service. I've never payed more for less in my life. The seafood soup was more like lobster flavored saltwater .

After dinner we walked down the boardwalk and circled back on the Main Street. Ran into 2 pirate statues. Nothing brings out the pirate clown in me like pirate statues. My favorite pirate statue to date though is Big Black Dick from Cayman. I mean think about it. You're a big black pirate named Richard .... What would you call yourself? I'm not just being silly. Look him up.

Anyway ..... after the stroll we went back to the hotel. I engaged in my typical buzz head shower and then .... Sleep came quickly. I tried to make some moves on my wife but she was having none of my wine fueled shenanigans.

Did I say this place was beautiful?

Beach resorts are all good but there's something to be said about being smack in the middle of a small Caribbean town.
